Mary Jean Atkinson

Mary Jean Atkinson was born June 11, 1945, to the late Rosa Lee Brown and Jimmy Lee Biggs in Walton County, Georgia. Mary was preceded in death by her great grandson, Fredrick Jr. ; brother, Pete Blackwell; Sister, Mattie Blackwell. Mary married the late Lamar Atkinson Jr. in 1962. She became a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in 1971 and served as a secretary of the Usher Board for many years. She worked as a cook at Monroe Primary School for thirty-eight years. Mary was a proud mother of two children. She enjoyed dancing, online shopping, sewing, cooking, gardening, and spoiling her grandkids and great grandchild. On the evening of April 13, 2022 our “Heavenly Father” called Mary home. She leaves to cherish her memories: Daughter: Betty Elaine Atkinson; Son: Doug (Kelly) Atkinson; Grandchildren: Laquitta (Fred) Malcom, Jasmine Atkinson, and Quinton Atkinson; Great granddaughter: Alexia Malcom; Brothers: Freddie Biggs, Eddie Biggs, and Otis Byrd; Sisters: Essie Johnson, Sara Lee Allen, Jessie Ruth Culbreath, and Emma George; Special Friend Rosa Lee Robinson, and a host of family and friends.
